Advanced Practitioner Onboarding Course

The Advanced Practitioner Onboarding Course is a comprehensive, 20-hour educational program designed to equip Advanced Practitioners (APs) with the essential knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality, evidence-based oncology care. This course covers the full continuum of cancer management, integrating foundational science with clinical practice and professional development.

Learners will begin with an overview of oncology fundamentals, including cancer biology, oncogenesis, and risk assessment, before progressing to applied topics such as cancer screening, diagnostic evaluation, laboratory interpretation, and treatment modalities. The program emphasizes both acute and long-term management of cancer-related conditions, incorporating psychosocial support, adolescent and young adult (AYA) considerations, survivorship, and end-of-life care.

Beyond clinical expertise, the curriculum also addresses the AP’s role in advancing oncology through clinical research, best practices in documentation and billing, and professional growth. Dedicated sessions on physical and mental health provide strategies for resilience and sustainability in oncology practice.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply current evidence-based guidelines for cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship care.
  • Formulate individualized care plans that address medical, psychosocial, and supportive needs across diverse patient populations.
  • Strengthen their role in clinical research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional leadership.
  • Promote their own well-being and resilience to sustain long-term contributions in oncology practice.

This structured curriculum provides a foundation for APs to grow as leaders in oncology care, advancing both patient outcomes and the profession of advanced practice.
