By understanding their value, preparing strategic negotiation plans, and utilizing available resources, attendees will be empowered to advocate for fair and competitive compensation.

The Advanced Practitioner Onboarding Course is a 20-hour program designed to prepare Advanced Practitioners (APs) for delivering high-quality, evidence-based oncology care. It covers the full cancer care continuum—from foundational science and diagnostics to treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life care. The course also emphasizes professional development, including clinical research, documentation, and personal well-being. By the end, participants will be equipped to apply evidence-based guidelines, create individualized care plans, contribute to research, and sustain resilience in oncology practice.

This course covers the basics of cancer biology and genetics, including cancer characteristics, carcinogenesis, oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, and cellular signaling pathways. It also addresses genetic testing for hereditary cancer syndromes and tumor genomic profiling, with insights into future developments, report information, and somatic variant–drug pairs.

This introductory course offers advanced practitioners a foundational understanding of genomics in oncology. Participants will explore how genetic alterations contribute to cancer development, learn about key biomarker testing methods, and understand the role of genomic profiling in guiding targeted therapy and monitoring treatment resistance

This session will provide an up‑to‑date overview of the statutes, regulations, and reimbursement policies shaping the delivery of telehealth services by oncology advanced practice providers (APs). Participants will explore practical use cases demonstrating how telehealth is being integrated into oncology care and examine common institutional, provider, and patient-level challenges that impact its effective utilization. Strategies to address these barriers will be discussed, along with a review of current research on telehealth-related patient outcomes in oncology. The session will conclude with a focused discussion on ways APSHO can further support APs in optimizing telehealth practices within oncology settings.
